  • Long-term care insurance support

Understanding live-in care

Some families want one familiar person in the home, day and night, instead of a rotating schedule of shifts. Live-in care gives them that. One caregiver moves into the home, learns its rhythm, and becomes a steady presence through mornings, meals, afternoons, and quiet nights.

It suits clients who are still fairly independent but should not be alone, and families who want fewer new faces coming through the door. Your loved one keeps their own home, their own routines, and one caregiver who knows them well.

This is non-medical private-pay care. We do not provide skilled nursing, clinical monitoring, wound care, or medication administration.

What live-in care includes

Through the day

  • Help with mornings, dressing, and personal care
  • Meals prepared and shared at home
  • Activities, outings, and conversation
  • Support with prescribed exercise routines
  • Medication reminders (non-medical)
  • Light housekeeping and laundry

Through the night

  • A caregiver in the home every night
  • Help if your loved one wakes and needs something
  • A written log of how each night went

What the home provides

  • A private bedroom for the caregiver
  • A safe home and the everyday supplies care needs

Who live-in care is for

Clients who do best with one person

Memory changes, a new diagnosis, or simply a strong personality can make a rotating team hard. One caregiver who learns your loved one's habits and preferences brings calm to the whole household.

Families who want someone there at night

If your loved one mostly sleeps through the night but should not be alone in the house, live-in care keeps someone close by without the cost of awake overnight shifts.

Clients who split the year between homes

If your loved one spends part of the year somewhere else, we can talk through the caregiver traveling with them so care stays with the same person.

When nights get busier

Live-in care works best when nights are mostly quiet. The caregiver keeps a nightly log, and we read it with you. If your loved one is waking often and the caregiver is up several times a night, we sit down together and talk through whether around-the-clock care, with an awake caregiver overnight, would serve your family better.

How live-in care is billed

Live-in care is billed at a daily rate that we agree on with your family in advance, so you know what each month will look like. Call our office and we will walk you through the numbers for your situation.

If your loved one has long-term care insurance, we provide the invoices and daily care notes most carriers ask for, and we help you understand what your policy covers.

Getting started with live-in care

We start with a conversation by phone, then a complimentary care assessment so we understand your loved one's needs and the home itself.

Next we match your loved one with one caregiver suited to their personality, routine, and care needs.

A short trial period comes before anything long term, so your loved one, your family, and the caregiver can all confirm the fit.

From there, care follows a written care plan, and we stay in regular contact with your family as needs change.
